Hello everyone,
We just wanted to let everyone that knew Chocolate know how much we love her. She did really good riding in the cab of the truck from Whitehorse to Skagway. We took her on a long walk on our property when we got home. We let her off leash and she ran and ran. She LOVES water! We have a creek on our property that she enjoyed galloping up and down. She plays well with our young dog. They play "chase" and "tug o war" all the time. She does chase the cats but more in a playful nature and she is very receptive to training. She has never nipped them or tried to bite. She is just curious about them and at first she was actually scared of them. Her second day here we took her to Dyea (tidal flats) and she ran around for 4 hours splashing through the water. We took her to the visiting dog groomer and had her anal glands expressed and her back dew claws clipped. She was a very good girl.
She loves the kids and sleeps with my son in his bed. She is a cuddler and loves lounging around on the couch with me after a long day of being a dog. We take her in the truck with us everywhere we go. She just takes a nap in the back seat. We went to Carcross last weekend to visit a friend and she had a blast playing with my other dog. They chased squirrels, played tug o war, chased each other around, snuck hot dogs, and entertained everyone. My friend put my son in a canoe and started to push him out in the water. Chocolate ran up and grabbed the rope and pulled the boat back in. Everyone was laughing! Everywhere we go people absolutely adore her. She is a sweet natured dog with a fun playful side. She is super smart and listens well. We believe that tired dogs are good dogs so she has been getting tons of exercise and lots of activity.
The first two days she wouldn't eat any dog treats. Now she loves treats! She gets yummy chummies, dog biscuits and big meaty raw bones.
We are so thankful that she is a part of our lives. It is heartwarming to watch her intact with my kids. She definitely loves kids. We can't believe her original owners surrendered her and that no one adopted her sooner. Although we are also glad so that we could adopt her.
Anyways, please share this with anyone that knew her. I am sure you were all attached to her since she was there so long and since she is such a great dog. Thank you for letting her be a part of our lives. My camera is currently broken (cat knocked it on the floor) but when it is fixed I will email pics of Chocolate in her new home.
Thanks for all that you do~
Katherine
