Join our amazing team. Volunteers play a vital role in helping us care for hundreds of animals each year. We hope that you will enjoy all the satisfaction that comes from investing your time with us. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older or accompanied by an adult.
Volunteer Activities Note: Through the pandemic, we have restricted many of our in-shelter volunteer activities, but there are still many opportunities available.
WITH THE ANIMALS
Show the animals in care some love. Activities include drop-in dog walks, kitty cuddling, adopt-a-dog-for-a-day, and puppy play & clean-up.
The dogs: book ahead for dog walking or adopt-a-dog-for-a-day. Enjoy exercise and socialization for you and the dogs.
The cats: drop-in or book ahead kitty cuddling. Get their purr motors running while they soak up the pets and you enjoy some endorphin-producing relaxation.
The puppy litters: poop patrol and puppy play. From time to time, we have puppy litters in the shelter that need playtime, people socialization, and lots of clean-up.
IN THE KENNEL
A positive experience for our animals means a clean and well-maintained kennel. Weekly Activities include laundry, light cleaning, sorting donations, inventories, washing toys and dishes. As-Needed/ Seasonal Activities include small repairs, spring cleaning, snow shoveling, and special projects.
SUPPORT OUR WORK
Fundraising is crucial to our ability to run the shelter and care for the animals. Activities include ticket sales, online auction prep, event set-up, barbeques, collecting donations
Administrative tasks help keep things running smoothly. Activities include adoption reference check calls, data entry, computer and IT tasks, rolling coins, tallying till tapes, organizing the office, website, and communications.
LEAD THE CHARGE
We always look for committed people as Coordinators to help plan and organize events and volunteers; and as Members of the Volunteer Committee and Board of Directors.
