Naming Humane Society Yukon as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy provides valuable tax savings to you today and will help the animals in the future.
Your gift is paid directly to Humane Society Yukon and is not subject to probate fees, taxes or other fees.
How it works
There are three ways to give a gift of life insurance:
- You can name Humane Society Yukon as beneficiary of an insurance policy that you hold. Your estate would receive a tax receipt for the insurance proceeds upon your death.
- You can donate an existing policy that you no longer need by designating Humane Society Yukon as the owner and beneficiary*. You would receive a tax receipt for the value of the policy at the time of transfer. All premiums that you continue to pay will also be eligible for a charitable tax receipts.
- You can purchase a new policy naming Humane Society Yukon owner and beneficiary*. You would receive a tax receipt for the annual premium that you pay for.
*The change of ownership/change of beneficiary sequence is very important. Be sure to consult your insurance/financial advisor before making any changes.
We suggest that you work with your financial advisor and lawyer to help you plan your gift of insurance or perhaps another legacy gift that best fits with your financial and estate situation. Please remember that the change of ownership/change of beneficiary sequence is very important. Be sure to consult your insurance/financial advisor before making any changes.
