Opal
Hello, just wanted to give an update on opal, he's been making very good progress every day! It surprised me how well he's come along already. There were a few ups and downs so far but for sure more ups.

Just a quick note to let you know that Winchester is settling in beautifully. He and Duke were buddies instantly and he's getting more comfortable with the kids (who are doing a good job of giving him space and letting him approach them). He's particularly enjoying balcony surveillance duty and walks around the neighbourhood. I suspect it won't take him long to feel right at home!
Where do I begin?? My heart is so full of love and I feel more lucky every day to have her in my life. She is kooky, she is silly, she is playful, she is a handful, and she is so full of love. She is also just the best, most amazing dog, and although 5 months at the shelter is a really long time, I'm so glad that she waited for us.
This is Kluane. She came to the shelter very pregnant and whelped 11 puppies! Our super foster family, the Wilkies, stepped up to take care of her and the pups for 8 weeks. That is a really heroic feat in our eyes. Cleaning up and weaning and just keeping track of that crew that took over their house and all their spare time. At the end of the journey, all the pups were adopted out to great homes and the family had fallen in love with super-mom Kluane and adopted her. She's now spayed and living the good life.
Stitch is a cat-egory all unto himself. He came to the shelter and quickly won the hearts of the staff. He is a prolific communicator and a bit of a cranky character at times. He never hesitated to let us know he was a boss. Through unfortunate circumstances, he slipped his trial adopter and was on the loose roaming about town for a month in the winter. It was a worrying time searching for him, but eventually he was found and came back to the shelter somewhat worse for wear the night before the biggest snowfall of the winter! He recovered quickly and went to a lovely new home.
Mickey and Peterson adopted our senior Señor Chico and just can't take enough pictures or put together enough stylish outfits for all their outings and adventures. Chico was a cranky old man before he left the shelter but has blossomed with this loving family. If you're looking for an addition to your family, consider some of our senior animals, they have so much loving gratitude to offer in their golden years.
