Shane

Description

FOSTER FEATURE - SHANE

Shane is the last of our 6 husky pups. He is a pretty timid guy that will need a really special home. He needs time and patience and would do best in a home with a confident dog to help him learn.

Shane will be in foster until Saturday and then he will need to return to the shelter. If you are interested in him please reach out.

Here is what his foster says about him.

"Shane is a goofy, adorable young pup who is slowly discovering the joys of puppyhood. He came to us extremely timid, and would freeze and shake in fear. We had to carry him in and out of the house and keep him tied up so we could get to him. Over the past two and half weeks he's made pretty big strides. He's comfortable on one level of the house and in our backyard, and he comes in and out on his own. He sleeps through most of the night and knows to do his business outside, with the occasional accident. He loves playing with our dogs and loves toys of all kinds! He throws them around and pounces on them. He's also good with our two cats. He tries to play with one of them but respects their limits.

Shane continues to be quite weary of people and is also terrified of leashes/rope, as well as confined spaces. He will accept pets on his head and neck when he's in a safe space (on the dog bed in our living room) and he will come sniff and even lick our hands if we're sitting still. Today alone he made huge strides in that he came on the couch with me and my dogs, and even played a bit with me and a toy. He's also moving more freely around the house and following me around, although keeping a safe distance. He is food motivated, although depending on the amount of fear, it's not always enough. He also knows his name, and knows the words outside and food 🙂

Shane would likely do best in a house without kids. He would be great with other dogs, and good with cats. We think he'll be a great outdoor companion once he can work past his fear of the leash. A fenced backyard would also be idea so he can have some space and freedom"

. His adoption fee is 500$
