Sascha In Foster

Description

FOSTER FEATURE!!! Meet Sasha! Sascha is a 1yr old female spayed German Shepherd. She has been in foster for the last 3/4 months and her foster had intended to adopt her, however life changes happened and she cannot. Sasha is a lovely dog that would thrive with ongoing training. What her foster says about her " Sasha is a high energy, active girl who loves being outdoors with her people. She enjoys walks, hikes, sniffing, digging in the snow, and exploring new trails. She walks well on leash once she gets her zoomies out and settles into the walk. She will often circle back to check in. She especially enjoys being on a long line where she has a bit more freedom to roam, run, and follow her nose. She enjoys scent work and likes to have “a job.” Sascha is excellent in the car and will lie down and fall asleep during rides. At home, she was living with a cat and has shown no aggression or prey drive towards him, only curiosity (wanting to check him out/ smell him). They’ve spent time in the same room together and she is able to ignore him and settle. She is housetrained, particularly once a consistent routine is established. Sascha is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She loves belly rubs, playing with her toys, and being close to her people. She truly craves connection and enjoys being around others and in a home where she is interacted with consistently. Sascha can “sit”, “lie down”, and has been working on her recall. On leash, she can be reactive to other dogs (barking, jumping, pulling), but when properly introduced, she has not shown aggression, just excitement and eagerness to play. She formed a lovely friendship with my neighbours’ senior female Elkhound and they enjoyed regular walks together. A home with another playful dog, with proper introductions, could potentially be a great outlet for her energy. She does not bark excessively and has not shown signs of separation anxiety when left alone during the work day. Sascha would thrive in an active home, ideally with multiple people, such as a family with older children or a couple). She is very intelligent, learns quickly, and has a lot of potential for someone who is excited to continue building on her training. Just a couple other things fyi… she does still try and lunge when cars drive by. Ive been working on having her sit and wait until the cars pass but we aren’t totally there yet. She also still likes to jump up when she’s excited and can still be a bit mouthy when petting her or she’s looking for attention, so probably best to have a home without small children". Please reach out if you would like to meet her. She is currently in foster in Atlin. But will also be returning to the shelter in the next 2 weeks. Her adoption fee is 400$

Ophelia

Description

Meet Ophelia Ophelia is an approx 2yr old female dog. She is most likely a Chesapeake bay retriever/bully breed mix. Ophelia is a lovely dog with people, she is sweet and affectionate and loves cuddles. She is an athletic dog that would do well in an active home that enjoys training as she is very smart and keen to learn. Ophelia is a beautiful dog that has a ton of potential. However Ophelia has also shown a high level of dog reactivity in the shelter and will need to be in a single dog home and/or with a very experienced dog owner. We would probably not recommend her at this time to a home with small animals, such as cats. She is good with kids. She has been spayed and is ready for her new home. Her adoption fee is 400$
