Kanga

Description

Meet Kanga,

Kanga is one year old female mixed breed dog. She is a big girl with a lovely thick coat. Breedwise, we assume there is some shepherd in there, otherwise your guess is as good as ours. Kanga was adopted from here as a puppy, she then moved to a few different homes before coming back to us. She is very exuberant, happy and has a strong desire to please people.

She does need a home that is committed to training. She is not dog reactive and would be fine with other dogs with proper introduction, she would also likely be fine with cats with the proper introductions. She would probably love a home with kids, but since she still needs to learn some basic manners, she may be a bit exuberant for small children. Kanga absolutely loves people and a active family that enjoys training would be ideal. Kanga is spayed and ready to go. Her adoption fee is 400$

Farley

Description

Meet Farley

We are now ready to repost Farley, as we have more info about him and hopefully can find this lovely boy the perfect home. Farley came to us from Inuvik, where he spent most of his life wandering the streets. Farley is a 5/6yr old neutered very large dog. He has a thick coat which will likely needgrooming, however he will need a groomer that can move slowly with him. Farley has had a lot of changes in his life over the last few weeks and will need a home that can take things slowly with him and allow him to adjust as he needs to.

His ideal home would be a quiet home where he can live outside most of the time. He does not love being inside, he enjoys spending the days outside and in his doghouse, he also likes to go out on low key walks, however he does not like getting in vehicles so a country home, or walking on neighborhood trails would be his thing. Farley has been non reactive to other dogs while he has been here, but he has had a few past incidents that would need to be discussed with any prospective homes. If you are interested in giving Farley his forever home please come in and meet him and we can chat.

Farley’s adoption fee is 400$

Special Agent Hobbes

Description

Meet Special Agent Hobbes

Special Agent Hobbes is a 1yr old german shepherd cross. Hobbes is a lovely, sweet and energetic boy. He will need someone committed to ongoing training to being him to his full potential. He has been non dog reactive in the shelter, so would likely be fine with other dogs with proper introductions.

He would also likely be ok with cats and children with proper introductions, although with his size and energy he might be better with slightly older kids. Special Agent Hobbes has been neutered and is ready to find his forever home. His adoption fee is 400$

Fireweed

Description

Meet Fireweed, Fireweed is a large 2-3yr old husky. Fireweed is a lovely dog, she loves to go for walks, but could use some help on learning not to pull. She loves her toys and has a favourite Kong toy that she likes to grab and carry everywhere. Fireweed shows very little dog reactivity here, so she may be fine in a home with another dog with proper introductions. We do not know how she would be with cats, but she does show some prey drive so I would lean towards no cats. She would be fine with older children that can respect her space and not crawl all over her. She has opinions about being touched in certain places. Fireweed does need an experienced owner, she can be anxious about new things and high stress environments can cause her to shut down, she responds very well to positive reinforcement to work through this. She prefers to be outside so an active home with a big fenced yard would be ideal for her.

Charlie

Description

Meet Charlie, Charlie and Missy will be going into their 5th month at the shelter. We have had zero interest in adopting them together. We have reached out to try and find them a foster together, but again had no interest. We did however have a foster home reach out interested in fostering Missy. After much discussions and consideration, we decided that trying Missy in a foster without Charlie would be a good choice, it would give us a chance to truly see how she did without Charlie. And how Charlie did without her. Charlie did not seem bothered by her being gone and his dog reactivity at the shelter has actually improved. We are now confident in our decision to offer them for adoption seperately. Charlie is a 6yr old male husky cross. He is a lovely, happy affectionate boy, but he does have some specific needs when it comes to finding him his perfect home. Charlie is dog reactive, and while we know he can live with other dogs, it would likely have to be a very particular dog with a long introduction, for this reason we feel he should be in a only dog home. His reactivity has calmed down somewhat since Missy has been gone, but its still there. He is good to walk, and enjoys long hikes and runs, but I would say he may always need to on leash or a longline. He can be reactive to dogs passing him on the trail but he is controllable and easily redirected. We know he lived with a cat in a past life, so he may be fine with them again with proper introduction. Charlie needs to be in a home with out kids. He has some body guarding habits around his feed being handled and he snapped at a child who accidently stepped on his foot. With people that he knows and trusts he is fine for having his feet lifted in and out of a harness and will offer shake a paw. But we think a quiet home where is the single dog would be best. We would also be happy to find a foster home for Charlie as well. Five months in the shelter is too long. Lets get this boy a home.

Enzo

Description

**IN FOSTER**

Hi, I’m Enzo! I’m a 3 year old mixed breed male.

When I first got to the shelter I was afraid, unsure and skinny. They are slowly helping me gain some weight and some trust. I really crave love and attention but get uneasy when receiving it, it is just a lot for me to process! I can be quite scared around men and some women, especially through the fence. I will need my person to go slow with me and really build a bond with me. I am very food motivated, it makes it easier for me to trust you if you’ve got good snacks.

Thank you to Briar Rose Photography - Whitehorse, Yukon Photographer for taking pictures for us! Follow her on Facebook. Follow her on Instagram @briar.rose.photography.design

Likes: treats, people going slow with me

Dislikes: unpredictable movements and strangers

Cats: not tested

Dogs: I haven’t met many, proper introductions needed

Kids: over 12 please

Potty trained: mostly, I still have the occasional accident

My adoption fee would be $450.

Thank you to Klondike Office Solutions for sponsoring Enzo’s kennel! We appreciate your support.

When adopting, the fee you pay gets you an animal that is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and spayed or neutered. If they are not of age to have been spayed or neutered, a purchase order is sent to the vet that covers a large portion of their surgery.

If you’re interested in adopting this animal please stop by or call the shelter at (867) 633-6019. At that point, we can fill out our questionnaire and we can talk about adoption!
