Missy

Description

Meet Missy, Missy and Charlie will be going into their 5th month at the shelter. We have had zero interest in adopting them together. We have reached out to try and find them a foster together, but again had no interest. We did however have a foster home reach out interested in fostering Missy. After much discussions and consideration, we decided that trying Missy in a foster without Charlie would be a good choice, it would give us a chance to truly see how she did without him, with the ability to bring her back if she was not thriving. It has been a month now and MIssy has thrived in her foster home, and Charlies dog reactivity at the shelter has actually improved. We are now confident in our decision to offer them for adoption seperately. Missy's foster family has been truly amazing in helping us figure out the ideal home for her. Missy is a senior black lab, she is around 9yrs old. She is quiet and easy going, but she does still love her long walks and even a moderate run. So would do best in a moderatly active home. She would also do well in a home with another male dog, with a similar temperment to her, but NO female dogs, she has been tested with a few females and it was a no for her. She lived with a cat in her past life, so with proper introductions she would likely be fine with cats. She is good with kids, but may be overhwlmed in a large, loud family. If she was to be adopted into a home with no other dog, she would be fine, but we suspect there would be some anxiety to work on if she was left on her own. So her ideal home - one other male dog with a similar personality and activity level as her, possibly cats and kids. Moderatly active, and willing to put time and work in if she needs some help adjusting. We have supports with trainers here to get her new home started as well.

Charlie

Description

Meet Charlie, Charlie and Missy will be going into their 5th month at the shelter. We have had zero interest in adopting them together. We have reached out to try and find them a foster together, but again had no interest. We did however have a foster home reach out interested in fostering Missy. After much discussions and consideration, we decided that trying Missy in a foster without Charlie would be a good choice, it would give us a chance to truly see how she did without Charlie. And how Charlie did without her. Charlie did not seem bothered by her being gone and his dog reactivity at the shelter has actually improved. We are now confident in our decision to offer them for adoption seperately. Charlie is a 6yr old male husky cross. He is a lovely, happy affectionate boy, but he does have some specific needs when it comes to finding him his perfect home. Charlie is dog reactive, and while we know he can live with other dogs, it would likely have to be a very particular dog with a long introduction, for this reason we feel he should be in a only dog home. His reactivity has calmed down somewhat since Missy has been gone, but its still there. He is good to walk, and enjoys long hikes and runs, but I would say he may always need to on leash or a longline. He can be reactive to dogs passing him on the trail but he is controllable and easily redirected. We know he lived with a cat in a past life, so he may be fine with them again with proper introduction. Charlie needs to be in a home with out kids. He has some body guarding habits around his feed being handled and he snapped at a child who accidently stepped on his foot. With people that he knows and trusts he is fine for having his feet lifted in and out of a harness and will offer shake a paw. But we think a quiet home where is the single dog would be best. We would also be happy to find a foster home for Charlie as well. Five months in the shelter is too long. Lets get this boy a home.

Elizabeth

Description

Meet Elizabeth Elizabeth is a 7yr old mixed breed, we are not too sure what she is crossed with, but most likely some cattle dog and some shepherd. She is medium sized, around 35lbs. Elizabeth came in with her daughter Diane. They where owner surrenders from people that just had too many dogs. While in our care Elizabeth has been quite an easy dog to have around, she is affectionate and sweet. She has little to no reactivity to other dogs, she walks well on leash and would likely be fine with other dogs with a proper introduction. She would likely be able to live with cats as well. Elizabeth is good with children, she is a great size and gentle. She would suit a somewhat active family well, she is fit and energetic for her age but we did discover she had broken her leg at some point and it did not heal properly, causing her to have a slightly bowed left front leg, she has shown no limitations from it, but will likley develop arthritis at some point. She is clean and quiet in her kennel. She would benefit from some training and classes as any adopted dog would. Come and meet her today!

Rolo

Description

Meet Rolo! Rolo is a 5yr old husky cross, he looks like he could have some akita in him. He don't know his history as he came in through bylaw, but at the shelter he has shown that he is easy going, gentle and good natured. Rolo has shown no dog reactivity while he's been here, so would probably do well with other dogs. Not sure about cats. He would be fine with children. He walks well on a leash. He is lovely and eager to please, he loves being outside, so an active family that like to go on walks would be ideal, as he also has a few lbs he could lose.

Enzo

Description

**IN FOSTER**

Hi, I’m Enzo! I’m a 3 year old mixed breed male.

When I first got to the shelter I was afraid, unsure and skinny. They are slowly helping me gain some weight and some trust. I really crave love and attention but get uneasy when receiving it, it is just a lot for me to process! I can be quite scared around men and some women, especially through the fence. I will need my person to go slow with me and really build a bond with me. I am very food motivated, it makes it easier for me to trust you if you’ve got good snacks.

Thank you to Briar Rose Photography - Whitehorse, Yukon Photographer for taking pictures for us! Follow her on Facebook. Follow her on Instagram @briar.rose.photography.design

Likes: treats, people going slow with me

Dislikes: unpredictable movements and strangers

Cats: not tested

Dogs: I haven’t met many, proper introductions needed

Kids: over 12 please

Potty trained: mostly, I still have the occasional accident

My adoption fee would be $450.

Thank you to Klondike Office Solutions for sponsoring Enzo’s kennel! We appreciate your support.

When adopting, the fee you pay gets you an animal that is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and spayed or neutered. If they are not of age to have been spayed or neutered, a purchase order is sent to the vet that covers a large portion of their surgery.

If you’re interested in adopting this animal please stop by or call the shelter at (867) 633-6019. At that point, we can fill out our questionnaire and we can talk about adoption!
